With a clear span of about 98 metres, Hangar 4 is the largest single-span timber arch aircraft hangar in the Southern Hemisphere – one and a half times the size of Air New Zealand’s largest existing hangar.

The prefabricated timber trusses, each weighing 38 tonnes, were lifted into place on site using New Zealand’s largest crawler crane. Timber was chosen for its light weight, seismic resilience, and resistance to coastal corrosion, offering advantages over conventional steel construction.

Set against the dramatic alpine backdrop of Wānaka, this striking black residence is designed to sit quietly within the landscape while making a bold architectural statement.

The exterior is defined by charred larch cladding, carefully treated by hand to achieve a deep, consistent black finish that complements the surrounding environment.

A new timber deck wraps around the entire building, creating seamless indoor and outdoor learning spaces that encourage movement, collaboration and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Set within the dramatic landscape of Central Otago, this cedar and stone home in Cromwell was designed as a place to slow down and enjoy retirement. Built by the owners themselves, the home reflects a shift in priorities — from family living to a more considered, lifestyle-driven design.

Western Red Cedar cladding plays a key role in the exterior, bringing warmth and texture while responding to the rugged alpine environment.

Located along the northern New South Wales coastline, this residence at Fingal, Tweed Heads responds to a highly exposed coastal environment, where intense sun, salt air and humidity place constant pressure on exterior materials.

Timber is used extensively throughout the project, both externally and internally, to create a warm, natural aesthetic that connects the home to its surroundings.
