Scott Young of Scot-Build Developments designed and built his distinctive home as four individual pods connected by glass links. For the guest wing, he wanted it to be unique and the pride of the home, so he selected 5/4 × 5-inch thermally modified Scots Pine to bring warmth and natural texture to the contemporary design.

The timber was protected with CUTEK® Extreme and CUTEK® Colortone, Whitewash. CUTEK® penetrates deeply to help control moisture and minimise cupping, warping and splitting, while the Colourtone allows the Scots Pine to develop a soft, beautifully silvered appearance as it naturally weathered.

The result balances clean architectural lines with the natural character of real timber, protected for Ontario’s demanding climate.
