CALVARY COLLEGE

At Calvary Christian College’s Carbrook campus, the redevelopment of the Middle School building, known as The Culbert, was designed to better connect students with their learning environment. A new timber deck wraps around the entire building, creating seamless indoor and outdoor learning spaces that encourage movement, collaboration and connection to the surrounding landscape.

With constant foot traffic and full exposure to the elements, durability and long-term performance were critical. CUTEK® Extreme was used to protect the timber decking, penetrating deeply to control moisture and reduce the risk of warping, cupping and splitting over time.

The deck was finished with Colourtone Goldtone, enhancing the natural warmth of the timber while providing added UV protection. This allows the timber to retain its rich, freshly oiled appearance for longer, even in Queensland’s harsh conditions.

The result is a highly functional learning space where timber performs reliably, supporting both the daily use of students and the architectural intent of the building.
